Mark Rivkin,
Chairman
Mark Rivkin joined Groove as Chairman in August 2005 and brings more than ten years of experience in Internet entertainment, services, business management and public markets. Prior to joining Groove, Mr. Rivkin was one of the founders of CryptoLogic Inc., one of the world's largest and most successful developers of online gaming software. While Mr. Rivkin was at CryptoLogic, the company successfully listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, NASDAQ and London Stock Exchange, achieving a market cap in excess of $600MM USD.
Jon Walsh,
Director
Jon Walsh founded Groove in September
of 2001 and has more than eleven years
of video game industry experience.
Since inception, Groove has published
more than 20 game titles that have been
released globally, including Playboy: The
Mansion, Pariah and Marine Sharpshooter.
Prior to joining Groove, Mr. Walsh was the
Canadian Sales Manager of Activision,
a top-five global publisher of video
games. Mr. Walsh received his Honours
BA in Business Administration from the
University of Western Ontario and his
MBA from the Richard Ivey School of
Business at the University of Western
Ontario.
Harvey Solursh,
Director
Prior to joining Groove, Mr. Solursh,
C.A., was the Chief Financial Officer
of CryptoLogic Inc. Previously, Mr.
Solursh was a founding partner at
Solursh, Feldman & Partners, Chartered
Accountants, where he practiced
for 30 years. His arenas of expertise
include financing emerging companies,
commercial and venture capital financing,
private placements, and asset and share
purchases and sales.
John Fisher,
Director
John Fisher is the President of Bridgeport Asset Management Inc., a Toronto-based investment counselling firm which manages discretionary investment portfolios on behalf of high net worth individuals and families. John has over 17 years of business and investment experience. Before founding Bridgeport, John served as a Managing Director of Clairvest Group Inc., a Toronto-based private equity firm with approximately $600 million of capital under management. Over his ten years at Clairvest, John was responsible for sourcing, executing and managing strategic equity investments in both private and public companies. He has served on the board of directors of several companies and acted as a key strategic advisor to senior executives and business owners.
Prior to Clairvest, John worked as an investment banker at a major Canadian bank-owned brokerage firm and in corporate finance, business valuation and accounting for a Big Four public accounting firm in Toronto.
John has received a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto and a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. In addition, he holds the Chartered Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Business Valuation designations.
Jim Whitaker,
Director
Jim Whitaker is one of three Managing Partners of VentureLink LP, the manager of the VentureLink Group of Funds. The VentureLink Group of Funds have approximately $270 million of assets under management as at June 30, 2008 in four different Labour Sponsored Investment Funds. See www.venturelinkfunds.com.
Jim has held senior investment positions with the VentureLink Group of Funds since 2003 and previously, Working Ventures Canadian Fund Inc. since 1994. While at Working Ventures Jim led investments or acted as Board member in approximately twenty companies. In addition, he led the Information Technology Team was a member of the Management Investment Committee. Prior to joining Working Ventures, Mr. Whitaker worked in a number of practice areas at Ernst & Young providing financial advisory services to mid-market companies in a wide range of industries. Mr. Whitaker is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Business Valuator.
